Gate valve lockout

Gate valve lockouts are devices that prevent the accidental or intentional opening or closing of valves. Their use increases worker safety and reduces the risk of accidents.
The basic principles for the use of valve shut-off devices are:
- Close and lock out all valves that are not required to be moved during work.
- All valves that must be moved during work should be marked and checked regularly.
- All valve shut-off valves must be clearly labelled with the name, condition and person responsible for the valve.
- All valve closures should only be removed by the person responsible after checking that the work is complete and that there is no danger.
